Th is essay off ers a historical and critical refl ection on Pietro Ellero and Marco Finzi, whose archives and library were respectively at the center of the PRIN-PNRR research project entitled “CriArcLi - Italian professors of Criminal law’s archives and libraries: models, digitisation, and public engagement.” The reflections collected here are based on the contents of the reports presented during the fi nal conference of the aforementioned research project, which was held in Trento from October 1st to 3rd 2025, and whose contributions are collected in this same volume.
