This study analyzes the interoperability conditions necessary to make micro-credentials recognizable across European higher education institutions. In particular, it examines two European University Alliances, ECIU University and Una Europa, as case studies to detect the dynamics of interoperability within contexts that are already experimenting with these forms of certification. The results highlight a complex configuration, characterized by the interaction of multiple factors. A key role is played by technological infrastructure, together with organizational settings, regulatory frameworks and the various conceptions of their function and identity within institutional systems. This study offers useful insights for outlining possible development trajectories in the European context, supporting the construction of a more flexible university system capable of responding to the transformations in contemporary education.

Abstract
This study analyzes the interoperability conditions necessary to make micro-credentials recognizable across European higher education institutions. In particular, it examines two European University Alliances, ECIU University and Una Europa, as case studies to detect the dynamics of interoperability within contexts that are already experimenting with these forms of certification. The results highlight a complex configuration, characterized by the interaction of multiple factors. A key role is played by technological infrastructure, together with organizational settings, regulatory frameworks and the various conceptions of their function and identity within institutional systems. This study offers useful insights for outlining possible development trajectories in the European context, supporting the construction of a more flexible university system capable of responding to the transformations in contemporary education.Pubblicazioni consigliate
